Pair of vintage original Hawaiian mini portrait paintings by Tip Freeman, circa 1940s. . Both works are signed on the lower portion "Tip Freeman Honolulu". The paintings are presented in rustic wood frames and measure 4" x 5.25". Really cool original Hawaiian works of art! #3639
TIP FREEMAN
Tip Freeman, celebrated for his Hawaiian motifs, moved to Honolulu in the 1930s and opened a studio in 1943. He was a film and theater stage designer who was also among the nation's top airbrush artists. Graduating from the Chicago Art Institute, Freeman traveled internationally throughout the 1930s, working on the movie production of "40,000 Horsemen" in Australia, for which he created the scenery and sets and played the part of an Arab sheik. In late 1939, he opened the Tip Freeman Art Studio in Honolulu, Hawaii, painting murals and stage drops as well as exploring his pioneering airbrush techniques. During World War II he sold his airbrush paintings by the hundreds to servicemen through military commissaries and was named one of the ten leading airbrush artists in the country.

Alfred Dupont was a muralist, illustrator and painter who made his home in southern California.
Dupont was born in East Orange, New Jersey. While still a teenager he ran away from home ending up in San Francisco, California. He studied art at the California School of Fine Arts, the University of California and the California College of Arts and Crafts.
Alfred Dupont painted murals on the ceiling of Hearst Castle (active at Hearst Castle in 1933 where he designed the story of the Old Testament on the ceiling of the celestial suite and made the drawings for ornamental ironwork and the blue and gold mosaic tiles around the swimming pool) and for the Golden Gate Exposition of 1939 he painted murals in the mining building.
