About the Item
Beautiful framed painting of a young girl and her dog by the artist Pierre le Faguays (1892-1962). Famously known for his Art Deco sculptures, he dedicated to himself to painting on the Place du Tertre in Montmartre (in Paris) after the Second World War.

A student of Vibert at the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva, Pierre le Faguays worked with various publishers, including Max Le Verrier, the Susse foundry, Etling and J. Lehman's nephews, among others. His style is close to that of Demetre Chiparus.
He participated in his first exhibition at the Salon de la Société des Artistes Français in 1922. He received an honorable mention in 1926 and another honorable mention, in the Sculpture section, in 1927. A student of Vibert at the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva, Pierre le Faguays worked with various publishers, including Max Le Verrier, the Susse foundry, Etling and J. Lehman's nephews, among others. His style is close to that of Demetre Chiparus.

He is the author of the group, Stèle et évolution, in collaboration with Marcel Bouraine. This was an opportunity for him to collaborate with artists Sibyle May and Edouard Cazaux.
Highly prolific, his work tackles materials as varied as marble, stone, terracotta, bronze, ivory and alabaster. He is particularly inspired by the statues of "Tanagra". Le Faguays is also well known for his creations in cast iron under various pseudonyms such as Guerbe and Fayral, the surnames of his mother and his wife Raymonde Guerbe. In Paris, he presented two groups of sculptures in the A. Goldscheider pavilion at the Exposition des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels. He also participated as an interior designer with two monumental bas-reliefs for the civil aviation hall at the 1937 Paris Specialized Exhibition.
After the Second World War, he worked as a painter on the Place du Tertre in Montmartre.

Louis Vidal, Vidal the blind or Vidal-Navatel is a French sculptor born on December 6, 1831 in Nîmes and who passed on May 9th, 1892 in the 12th district of Paris.
