Scuola lombarda, XIX secolo Composizione di fiori, frutta e fontana Olio su tela, 76 x 101 La tela ovale di notevoli dimensioni rappresenta una natura morta composta da un tripudio di fiori e di frutti disposti disordinatamente sun piedistallo in pietra immerso in un lussureggiante giardino, di cui si intravedono le cime degli alti alberi che chiudono la fuga prospettica verso l’orizzonte. Ad affollare ancor più la scena contribuiscono una fontana zampillante e un cratere appena rialzato da cui pende un festone floreale; prestando attenzione ai dettagli lenticolari si nota la presenza di una piccola chiocciola alla base del cratere e di alcune farfalle sparse fra i melograni, i grappoli d’uva e le zucche. L’opera appartiene al XIX secolo e riprende le composizioni già utilizzate nei secoli precedenti, a partire dal Seicento e poi continuate nel Settecento, sia da artisti francesi e fiamminghi sia da pittori italiani che molto appresero dagli stranieri che giunsero per studio o lavoro nella penisola. Il mantenimento e il ritorno di questo gusto aggraziato dai colori accesi e variegati, come pure la predilezione per questo genere pittorico si affermò nuovamente nell’Ottocento, a partire dalla Francia e toccando poi gli altri paesi europei, compresa l’Italia del nord, assai legata culturalmente e artisticamente ai francesi. Il soggetto ripercorre i motivi utilizzati in passato ma attraverso colori più vivaci e luminosi e senza creare contrasti luminosi troppo intensi, ma anzi irradiando uniformemente con toni caldi i vari elementi; inoltre, i contorni risultano definiti, i volumi più compatti e meno sfumati rispetto alle opere di ugual soggetto del passato.
