"Splashing in the Waves, " Art Deco Seaside Painting by Texas Artist

About the Item

Painted in vivid, glowing colors by Robin Artine Smith, this depiction of a 1940-era blonde in a tangerine-hued swimsuit striding into the surf is a superb example of sophisticated, high-energy Art Deco graphic art. Probably painted for a poster or illustration, this piece is a superb example of the artist's sense of color and elegant line. She studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and in Vienna before settling in Texas, becoming very active in an array of artist organizations, and exhibiting widely in the 1940s and 1950s with the American Watercolor Society, the National Association of Watercolor Artists, the Artists Alliance in Dallas and the Southern States Arts League. The medium is gouache on heavy paper. (Dimensions include matte; image size is 13.25" high by 9" wide.)
