Two Gothic Angels in Giltwood Tabernacle Frames After Fra Angelico

About the Item

Two lovely 19th century paintings on board of Fra Angelico's angels from The Linaioli Tabernacle, 1433, where, when the tabernacle doors are open, can be seen in the arch surrounding the madonna and child, an ensemble of twelve angels playing different musical instruments (see Image 16). These angels are among the most beloved of Fra Angelico's paintings and thus were produced by various local artists in the late 19th and early 20th century as posh souvenirs of the Grand Tour in these beautiful water gilt wood tabernacle frames. Priced individually.
