"Under the Apple Tree, " Tour de Force Enamel Painting with Two Women
About the Item
Brilliantly executed in jewel tones of sapphire, garnet and emerald, this superb enamel painting, though executed in 1963, is strongly reminiscent of WPA paintings from the 1930s and 1940s. The idyllic scene of two women and a dog is set in a lovely wooded scene, with thin shards of glass or gold leaf annealed along with the painted enamel. The painting is dated and signed Carme.
