Iconic Large Photo by Dennis Morris of Sex Pistols Backstage

About the Item

This picture was taken in 1977 by the young Dennis Morris at the age of 17, backstage after a gig in Penzance Cornwall (UK), during the infamous S.P.O.T.S. tour. Bromide fibre print, edition 1 of 5 (+2ap) from 2005. Signed on verso by the artist. Framework by Darbyshire in London, one of the best in the country. Measures: 100 x 149 cm. Dennis Morris is a British photographer best known for his images of Bob Marley and the Sex Pistols. In 1979 he created the logo for the band Public Image Limited and the innovative metal box album packaging. He then became Art Director of Island Records and designed album covers for the likes of Linton Kwesi Johnson, Marianne Faithfull (Broken English) and Bob Marley. The Sex Pistols were a British punk rock band that formed in London in 1975. They were known for their aggressive, anti-establishment lyrics and rebellious image. Their debut album "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols" is widely regarded as one of the most important albums in the history of punk rock. The band had a short but impactful career, with numerous controversies, including being banned from several venues and their infamous appearance on a live television show. Despite their brief existence, the Sex Pistols left a lasting impact on the music industry and popular culture, influencing countless artists in the decades since their disbandment.

Large pendant by Italian designer Matteo Thun for Zumtobel lightning. The spherical pendant luminaires provide an ideal lighting effect due to their partly transparent luminaire unit with reflective chrome coating and opal glass globe inside. Besides directly emitted light, light is reflected inside the luminaire unit, making it seem to float. Light defines the emotional impact of a room. That is exactly why so many public places such as hotel lobbies and restaurants and even residential living spaces combine functional lighting with a clear element of decorative light.
