About the Item
This beautiful and colourful poster is from 1957 advertising the Loterie Nationale or French National Lottery. Reading "Columbine Se Croit Fine", the poster depicts characters from the Commedia dell'arte, a well-known theatre from Italy and mainland Europe.
The Loterie Nationale created some of the most effective and influential advertisements of the 20th century, beginning in 1933. They were known to hire some of the greatest designers of the era and hence have a wonderful catalogue of iconic designs such as this piece. This poster is in great condition overall, with some light handling wear and a small tear on the top side.
