Loosely based on Pierre Boulle's 1963 French novel, "Planet of the Apes" was first adapted for the screen in 1968, and has gone on to spawn 4 direct sequels, along with further features in the 21st century.
The highly successful original series was produced by Arthur P. Jacobs, and this stunning original 1968 French-release poster features artwork from Jean Mascii depicting Charlton Heston hostage on the ape ruled planet.
