About the Item
Regarded as one of the all time great graphic designers, French-Ukrainian great A.M. Cassandre designed this poster for the Coupe Davis, or Davis Cup in 1932. In typical art deco style using scale and lighting to brilliant effect, this beautiful poster advertises the challenge round of the cup, held on 29, 30 and 31st of July. Beginning in 1900, the Davis Cup, regarded as the "World Cup" of tennis, is an annual knock out event held around the world.
Originally published by Alliance Graphique of Paris France in 1932. Published as Grand Quinzaine Internationale De Lawn-Tennis, this authorised second edition was printed in 1980 and is in mint condition and very rare.
