Large School Chart of a Pigeon by Paul Pfurtscheller, circa 1915

About the Item

This bird biology chart was made by Austrian Prof. Dr. Paul Pfurtscheller, and is part of the zoological chart series as #19. Amazing insight into a pigeon's body, the chart shows the organs and inner structure of the bird. Pfurtschellers school charts are among the rarest scientific pull down charts in the world and result in their uniqueness an unmatched symbiosis of science and art. The charts are huge lithographs, illustrated with extraordinary attention to detail and with colors that were printed in 10-15 steps. Linen backed paper, which was originally varnished (causing the yellowish cast) with original wooden dowel rods. Was used in a Belgian school house, circa 1915.
