About the Item
Original vintage Africa travel poster for the Belgian Congo / Congo Belge including a pictorial map of French Equatorial Africa, Sudan, Uganda, Tanganyika, Rhodesia and Angola. Design by Frans Laboulais (1903-1988) features an illustrated map depicting roads, railways, flight routes, national parks, Catholic churches, protestant churches, hydroelectric dams, and locations of precious commodities and produce such as gold, diamonds, uranium, bananas, corn, cattle, coffee, cacao, wheat and fish. Below are illustrations of local scenery, people working next to a hut, musical instruments, pottery and tools. Patterned border. Fair condition, large stain, restored tears through image, restored paper losses on edges, backed on linen.
