Original vintage London Transport summer sport poster for Wimbledon '79 featuring a man wearing tennis whites and swinging his racquet / racket with a red London Transport roundel logo and the slogan below - We'll bring London to your door - and the title with the information on the opening times and days of the matches, the tube routes and District Line Train to Southfields and by coach from Wimbledon British Rail Station above. The 1979 Wimbledon championships tennis tournament was held from 25 June to 7 July; the defending champion Swedish player Bjorn Borg beat the American tennis player Roscoe Tanner in the final to become the Men's Singles winner. Founded in 1877 this annual event is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and is held on outdoor grass courts at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club AELTC in Wimbledon London. Printed by C.J. Petyt Ltd London. Good condition, restored folds, restored tears, restored pinholes, staining, backed on linen.
