Original Vintage Poster, 'D’amoureux Au Poisson' Signed by Raymond Peynet Raymond Peynet was a French artist and illustrator. Peynet was known for his illustrations of couples, specifically, couples in love. Peynet was born in Paris in 1908 , he began drawing at a young age. He studied at the École Estienne and the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, this is where he developed his distinctive style. Peynet's style was characterised by delicate lines and slender characters. In 1930, Peynet began working for the weekly magazine "Le Rire," where he published his first illustrations of love couples. These images quickly gained attention from the public and became very popular, leading Peynet to publish a collection of these illustrations titled "Les Amoureux de Peynet" in 1935. Peynet continued working as an illustrator for the rest of his life, creating many design objects as well, such as watches and home decor items. Peynet passed away in Paris in 1999, leaving behind a rich and beloved artistic legacy. His illustrations of love couples are still popular today and are often used as symbols of love and romance. This poster is signed by Peynet himself in pencil on the left hand side.

She is holding a packet of Gypsy Cigarettes in her other hand. The poster is divided into three colors, yellow, blue and green. Gitanes is a brand of cigarettes produced by Seita, a subsidiary of the Imperial Brands group, created in 1910 at the same time as the Gauloises brand. In 2014, part of its production was relocated to Poland following the closure of the Seita plant in Nantes. The first Gitanes packages were designed in 1927 by Maurice Giot.
