About the Item
Original vintage travel map poster for the Belgian Congo / Belgisch Kongo featuring a pictorial map of the area bordering Equatorial Africa, French Sudan, Angola, Rhodesia, Tanganyika and Uganda showing people in traditional dress, statues and masks, animals, hills and rivers with a compass point on the side set within an ornate decorative frame. Artwork by the Belgian painter James Thiriar (1889-1965) and Pierre Margraff. Printed by Leon Beyaert Sioen, Courtrai. Published by the Tourist Office of Belgian Congo and Ruanda-Urundi. Good condition, creasing, repaired tears, staining, small paper losses on edges.
