Original vintage travel advertising poster - Travel Luxuriously in the World's largest airliners Europe Africa India Far East Imperial Airways The Greatest Air Service in the World - featuring stunning artwork by the British artist Verney L. Danvers (Verney Lionel Danby Danvers; 1895-1973) depicting smartly dressed passengers in suits and dresses boarding a Heracles Handley Page HP 42 four-engine biplane airliner on the grass with a steward by the stairs and men in uniform loading the suitcases and bags into the hold on the other side, the pilots visible in the cockpit below a flag flying against the yellow background with the propellers rotating on the sides, the blue and red text above and rest of the bold lettering on the black banner below. Founded in 1924 the British airline Imperial Airways merged into the British Overseas Airways Corporation BOAC in 1939, later merging with the British European Airways BEA to form British Airways BA in 1974. Good condition, restored tears, restored folds, staining, backed on linen.
