"Pan Am Berlin", 1958 Travel Advertising Poster
About the Item
This original 1950s travel poster shows a night scene in post-war West Berlin.
Pan American World Airways (1927-1991) formed the Internal German Service (IGS) in April 1954 with a hub at Tempelhof in west Berlin and a technical base in Frankfurt. German airlines were not allowed to fly during this period and it fell to the Allies to provide commercial flights within West Germany. West Berlin was cut off from the rest of West Germany so Pan Am were providing an essential service.
This original vintage poster was printed in Berlin and has been professionally linen-backed with some restoration. It is in excellent condition and is sized 23 3/8 x 33 inches. It will be sent rolled (unframed).
