Aka Høegh never completed an artistic education but studied for periods at the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, where she studied at the academy's Department of Sculpture. In an attempt to formulate a Greenlandic identity, art became an important tool in which Aka tried to depict the Greenlandic soul through myths and legends in the early 1970s.
