Britannia's Triumph Regency Period Eglomise Mezzotints set of 4 by Walker&Hinton

About the Item

This rare set of four reverse glass mezzotints representing Britain's victories includes: "Britannia's Triumph on the Restoration of Peace"- London published Nov 2 1801 by WB Walker No 4 Fox & Knot Court Cow Lane. Includes a cherub holding a banner proclaiming "Peace with France" and another "Britons Rejoice". There is a medallion with image of George III and one with Napoleon. "Plenty"- published June 13 1814 by J Hinton No 34 Charles Street Hatten Garden London "Peace"- featuring scroll "Tyranny Subdued & Peace Restored" published June 13 1814 by J Hinton No 34 Charles Street Hatten Garden London "Peace & Plenty All Over the World" (no signature) In their day WB Walker and J. Hinton were well-known publishers and printers of popular mezzotints. Today their work can be found in the V&A as well as other prestigious museums. In simple black wooden antique frames outlined in gold.

    Wear consistent with age and use. Over-all very good condition- a few bubbles in the over 200 year old glass- "Plenty" has a small crack at top right. "Plenty & Peace All Over the World" has small paint loss at bottom of chariot *see last image.
