F. Zuccarelli, Italianate Pastoral Scene, Large Impressive Engraving

About the Item

An impressive large format engraving of an Italianate scene after Francesco Zuccarelli RA (1702-1788) engraved by François Vivares (1709-1780). Very much of the late Baroque or Rococo period this beautiful Italian pastoral scene depicts a peasant woman at rest by the roadside with her child close by, two more women on the road one mounted and a farmer hearding cows aided by his dog. A fortified building beyond. Published in 1753 during the reign of George ll. Copper engraving with etching on a wove paper. Publication details: 'Engraved from an Original Picture of F: Zuccarelli, In the Possession of Wm: Herring Esqr,, / F. Zuccarelli Pinxt. / F. Vivares Sculp. / Publish'd by F. Vivares 7th August 1753.’ Overall good, some edge wear backed. Very light creasing.
