About the Item
A set of Gordon Newton limited edition lithographic prints. This set is titled "Six Prints 1972". These pieces are beautifully hand-printed on paper, created at the Common Ground of the Arts in Detroit in 1972. They feature abstract and sculptural black and white shapes, pulling influence from the rugged 1970s Detroit arts scene and the beautiful architecture of the city. These prints were created in an edition of 50, and this particular set is numbered 47/50. Gordon Newton is a Detroit based artist, known for being a part of the Cass Corridor arts movement. He studied art in Detroit at the College for Creative Arts and Wayne State University in the 1960s. His work has been showcased at the Guggenheim Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit. This set of prints is in very good condition. They each measure 42.25 in tall, 31.25 in wide, and 1.5 in deep.
