Signed Guiseppe Santomaso, 1968 limited edition 79/110 "Blue Space" aqua tint. Identical work in the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Approx. framed measurements 19.5"x22"H.
Santomaso’s career lead him to many mediums, Artist, Potter, Fresco Painter, Lithographer, Collagist, Illustrator, Painter.
His early paintings were influenced by French modernism. In the 1940s, he painted Georges Braque-inspired still lifes, and abstract linear cages (or prisons). In the 1970s he shifted his focus and his renowned series Lettere a Palladio (1977; English: Letters to Palladio) featured abstract geometry influenced by architecture.
In 1992, the Guggenheim museum featured his Lettere a Palladio series and published a related exhibition book.
