About

Vividly colored, and of a substantial size, this lithograph print artist's proof was created in 1973 by Alice Baber (1928-1982).

Baber was an abstract painter and lithographer. Despite a life cut short at 54 by cancer, the feminist artist traveled extensively, including studies at Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Fontainebleau, France. Unusual for a woman artist of that period, Baber had single-artist exhibitions in India, Iran, and thirteen Latin American countries.

Her work is in the collections of many museums, including the Guggenheim Museum, Whitney Museum of American Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Museum of Modern Art, the Corcoran Gallery of Art and National Museum of Women in the Art.

Image inside the mat is 42" x 32".
