Lithographie sur papier de Chine par Henri Rivière Le Pont des St-Pères

About the Item

This lithograph, “Parisian Landscapes – Pont des Saints-Pères and the Louvre”, is signed by Henri Rivière and bears a red stamped mark in the lower right corner. The artwork is authentic and original, and this is a rare impression on China paper, published and printed by Eugène Verneau. In the margin, there are small stains, fold marks, and minor tears. On the lithograph itself, we note a hole near the top next to the bell tower (0.6 cm), along with small stains and fold marks. The lithograph retains very fresh colors, and once framed, most imperfections will be barely visible. Sold as is. Henri Rivière (1864–1951) was a French painter, printmaker, and illustrator. He began his career in drawing and then specialized in intaglio printmaking, particularly etching, in 1882. In parallel, in 1886, he became a stage director and set designer for the shadow theatre at the cabaret Le Chat Noir, where he innovated with colored stage designs. He later dedicated himself fully to painting and printmaking, becoming a key figure in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolor (he produced around one thousand watercolors). Our numerous photos allow you to appreciate the quality of this lithograph. For condition details, please examine the photos carefully. Feel free to zoom in.
