Behold the exquisite antique map, a masterwork by Pieter van der Aa, showcasing a Detailed East-oriented plan of Jakarta, once known as Batavia, situated on the island of Java, Indonesia. Crafted with precision and artistry, this map offers a mesmerizing bird's eye view from the seaside, capturing the bustling port with various ships dotting the harbor and a regal lion gracing the scene. In an inset you can see the Salak mountains at the background. Van der Aa, a prodigious cartographer and publisher born in Leyden, Holland, infused his maps with intricate details and ornate embellishments.
