Black lithographic work no. 2 of 10 on antique and stressed paper. Executed prior to the release of the book Odysseen - 'Peter Brandes & Homer' by Keld Zeruneith, Duncan Macmillan og Bo Reinholt. A collaborative work where Brandes illustrated the songs and poems. This is song number 9 and it is signed by pencil, marked 2/10 and dated 2002.
This piece measures: 30x24 cm and is mounted behind glass in a wooden frame measuring: 58x47 cm. Sold in frame.
Peter Brandes is an interesting Danish artist. His style is abstract and melancholic and he took particular interest in artistically decoding mythology. Especially Christianity and Ancient Greece mythology.

A strikingly brutal piece that raises more questions than answers. It was painted during the early 1940s by the German relatively unknown artist Franz Kofron. The fragment has been cut out of a larger subject/motif. Either due to censor or the obvious blasphemy of the subject mattter. A simple act of vandalism without any motiv does not make any sense.
