Rare Art Deco Poster: Anisetta Evangelisti, Lithograph by Carlo Biscaretti

About the Item

Anisetta Evangelisti: Liquore da Dessert Lithograph by Carlo Biscaretti di Ruffia Biscaretti was an industrial designer who created only a handful of posters, most of them for the automotive industry between 1920 and 1930, such as Lancia. He became known as an automotive pioneer and designer of the historic Lancia logo. He is the founder of the Turin Automobile Museum. In 1925, Carlo Biscaretti designed the advertising campaign for Evangelisti's Anisette, an Italian liqueur made from anise and licorice. This poster, with a yellow background, depicts a thirsty chimpanzee standing on a wooden crate and tasting the anise from the bottle in its hand. Its nickname, "the drunken monkey," has earned it great popularity due to its lightness and humorous tone.
