15 Japanese Woodcuts, produced by 9 members of the Japanese Council to Promote Graphic Arts. Published by Nisei Progressives, New York, 1952. From a Tokyo exhibition of leftist Japanese artists, including Shoji Yui(1908-1998) and Shin Watanabe. Loose leaf portfolio, each titled. The Nisei Progressives were young California Japanese-Americans, affiliated with progressive labor unions and supported Henry Wallace’s 1948 Progressive Party campaign for the Presidency. Unframed, age toning, portfolio cover has edge tears.
