18th Century Flemish Verdure Tapestry

About

An impressively-scaled wool tapestry depicting a heavily wooded landscape centred with a bridge and a castle, with various birds and animals, within a border. The detailing in the grasses edging the stream and in the depiction of the blowing leaves of the trees is exceptional. The tapestry is currently wrapped around a stretcher, hiding the border. The full size is significantly larger than what is shown; about 9” on all sides. Accordingly, the tapestry is about 1 foot 7 inches larger than the amount show. The piece is in good, stabile condition. Some separations at seams. Colors fairly bright as viewed.
