1976 Louis Charles Pinet De Gaulade Patchwork Tapestry “Les Paves de Saint Marc”
About the Item
A beautiful vibrant patchwork tapestry by the noted French artist Louis Charles Pinet De Gaulade (1920-2010). The work is titled “Les Paves De Saint Marc”. It is dated 1976. There is a certificate of authenticity affixed to the back. I believe the piece is lined in linen and the patchwork pieces are a mix of velvet, wool and some cotton fabrics., The effect is stunning. It has a rod on top for hanging and a weighted bar through the base for weight to keep it straight. The piece is in good overall condition although there are some stain spots and a few small rough areas, which I’ve tried to picture in detail.
It was kept rolled so there are some crease marks which we hope will disappear or smooth out with hanging.
