Royal House Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this rather stunning, 1787 dated needlework sampler signed by Elizabeth Clark when she was nine years old
I have four other versions of these samplers for sale, they are dated 1830, 1747, 1879 and 1888, they are listed under my other items
This really is a piece of history, pure folk art, its super decorative and highly collectable, it depicts the 18th century poem The Sick Man and The Angel by John Grey. The frame is solid Brazilian Rosewood which would have cost an absolute fortune in its day
The condition is as you can see in the pictures, it has some discolouration but for the period, this is a 10/10
