Antique 17th Century Baroque Italian Silk, Metallic Thread Embroidery Panel

About the Item

Fine 17th century Baroque period silk and metallic thread embroidery panel. Excellent vibrant colors of bold burgundy, pale cream and beautiful, elegant teal with a border of textured woven metallic thread. Unusually fine state of preservation to the silk colors of this period. Depicting sophisticated motifs of classical urns with floral and foliate design elements. Exquisite, detailed hand-embroidered workmanship throughout. Linen backing. Museum quality object. Condition: This panel is in good condition commensurate with age. Approximately 350 years since creation, the silk fabric is largely intact and showing wonderful color. wear, loose threads, discoloration, splitting consistent with a piece this age. The metallic thread border is in particularly fine state of preservation. Measures: 7.5 inches wide 50 inches long.
