"Deer Season", Rare Art Deco Fabric Designed by Rockwell Kent, circa 1950
About the Item
This rare and striking Art Deco fabric panel, featuring a running deer in a forest expressed in rich red and maize, was designed by Rockwell Kent for Bloomcraft Inc. in 1950. The design was available in several color ways -- including deep red/gray and green/yellow -- all of which are in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The deer is immediately identifiable as a design by Kent, whose elegant and streamlined drawings and prints are singular -- and widely collected -- in his time and ours. The panel -- which retains its rich, original colors -- is printed cotton, and mounted on board.
