About the Item

Tapestry after the motif "Flick-Flack" by Swedish painter and sculptor Pierre Olofsson. The original painting executed in 1952 and the tapestry made in a limited series sometime after during the 1950s by Nordiska Kompaniet. Made from cotton velvet with a polychrome print. Signed with the artist monogram in black. Sewn with a cotton liner fabric and wooden slats for hanging on the wall. Good vintage condition with light age related wear. Note that there are some spots, mainly in the yellow color field. Pierre Olofsson was a student of Otte Sköld before he studied at the Art Academy in 1938–1943. He belonged to the Concretists. From a playful, cubistic painting, he reached at the end of the 1940s a non-figurative art, to which he remained largely faithful. Rounds cross each other and move in an eternal rhythm. [7] Olofsson was a member of the group "1947 men". He has, among other things, made decorations for LKAB in Kiruna, Pharmacia in Uppsala, Sundsvallsbanken's head office in Stockholm, Fortificationsförvaltning in Stockholm, Umeå University, Sundsvall's sports hall and the subway station Danderyd hospital First tree (1980). Olofsson's own developed graffiti technique was exceptionally well suited for wall decorations. In addition to his career as a painter, graphic artist and sculptor, Olofsson was also in demand as a colorist for industry, mainly Husqvarna and Saab where he collaborated intimately with Sixten Sason and also in later years with Björn Envall. Together with Sune Envall, Olofsson designed Husqvarna's new symbol, which became the company's last before the merger with Electrolux. Olofsson also worked with coloring interiors and exteriors of industrial buildings such as LKAB's sinter plant in Kiruna. Olofsson is represented at Moderna Museet[8], Nationalmuseum[9], Malmö Art Museum, Norrköping Art Museum, Kalmar Art Museum[10] and at Sundsvall's museum.
