About the Item
Original one of a kind tapestry designed by Jan Yoors (1922-1977). Handwoven by Annebert and Marianne Yoors in New York in 1977. This tapestry is part of his well-known Tantra Series. Using only two or three intense colors whose vibrancy is heightened by the use of black, Yoors constructed boldly plotted but always controlled designs. "I work in hard-edge, two dimensional, often deceivingly direct and simple forms which render an essentially sculptural sense of mass."
His work can be found in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Arts and Design, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Smithsonian Institution’s American Art Museum, the Archives of American Art, and the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
