Michel Four, world-renowned painter from the Cantal region
Michel Four is a French painter, lithographer, and sculptor, belonging to the New Figurative movement, born on February 15, 1945, in Carlat (Cantal). After completing secondary education and obtaining his baccalaureate at the Émile-Duclaux high school in Aurillac, Michel Four studied at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in Paris in 1964, in the painting studios of Roger Chapelain-Midy (Michèle Battut and Marc Le Coultre were his classmates), then Gustave Singier, and in the monumental art studio of Jean Bertholle. He lived for a time in New York and now lives in the 20th arrondissement of Paris. He was a professor of artistic morphology at the Beaux-Arts (specializing in nudes).
