Original framed Jean Claude Bissery Tapestry C.1960s, Mid-Century Abstract style
About the Item
This is a beautiful and immaculate condition tapestry by the renowned artist Jean-Claude Bissery, Circa 1960-1970 this striking rectangular tapestry in mechanical point is made of wool in the atelier Jean Laurent Aubusson workshop.
The graphic abstract painting brought to life as a tapestry in the rich hues of Olives, Taupe, Ochre, Red, Burgundy and Black all interwoven into this stunning geometrical design with strong curves and sweeping movement.
We have tried to find the name as most of his works are named, but we have been unable to discover that, but as with all JC Bissery tapestry the signature is woven into the design in opposing colours to the background pattern.
This has been framed we suspect around the time of manufacture judging but the style of frame and the labels on the back, please see photo. The frame is a very simple and elegant Pine frame labelled Mamanbebe, Framers and Haberdashery. C. Koehl, on rue M. Viollette in Dreux France, which is around ninety kilometres west of Paris
The tapestry is 76cm (29.9") Wide x 43cm (16.9") High
in the frame is 82cm (32.3") Wide x 49cm (19.3) High
