A Silk and Metal Thread Embroidery of The Annunciation
About the Item
The present embroidery after a famous engraving by Federico Barocci (called Fionda Urbino), a painter and engraver born 1526 in Urbino and died in 1612. While working in Urbino, Barocci was heavily influenced by Corregio and in turn, Barocci was a great influence on later artists (such as Boucher) who used his models for their religious compositions, as is evident in the present work.
