Very large pictorial Korhogo cloth Ivory Coast
About the Item
Large pictorial Korhogo cloth, produced by the Senufo people of the Ivory Coast, West Africa. named after the local village (Korhogo) where these types of cloths first originated.
Legend has it that #pablopicasso traveled to the Ivory Coast in the 1960s and
visited a small village called #Fakaha (which is possibly where this textile was made around the same time)
the locals say that his car broke down on the way to Korhogo and Picasso stumbled upon the village
“bare chested and without shoes” it’s said he stayed with the villagers for several days and taught them how
to paint with toothbrushes and sponges
Well, there’s no real proof of the visit but it’s a great story anyway!
