About the Item
Antique Sailor's Woolwork Embroidery Picture of Ships in a Bay. The embroidery is worked in wool on linen ground, in a variety of stitches. Colours blue, brown, cream, green, black, grey, orange and red. Scene depicts a bay with a large three masted sailing ship, a smaller sailing ship, two steam powered boats and a rowing boat on the water. On the shore there is a village on a hill, with buildings, a church and windmills. Framed in an old veneered wooden frame with rippled, old glass. Mounting: The embroidery is tacked to a wood stretcher frame. Frame backed with paper.. Dimensions exclude the frame and slip.

- Condition:Good. A few small holes. Small patchy stain above the sails of the main ship. Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined. A scattering of debris caught under the glass. Stretching is neat and even. Frame has some chipped veneer sections.
