Woven Silk

About the Item

A very rare fragment of woven silk and wool, a pattern of trees on a geometric background. Originally produced as a cheaper alternative to cut velvet for garment making. A panel from this length of material is in the reference collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, further information available on request. Italian, Probably Genoa 1580-1620. Measures: 116cm x 132cm.
