"Adine" - Contemporary Installation of Handmade Ceramic Plates - Set of 3
About the Item
"Adine" is an assemblage of 3 handmade ceramic plates with ceramic decals of a painting of a vase of flowers.
Each plate has been further worked with ceramic paint to accentuate the brushstrokes and oil painting effect. This makes each of the three versions of Adine completely unique.
This artwork belongs to our Altered Histories series, in which we reproduced in clay the look of our Altered Perspectives.
We have reworked images of paintings from our own collection and blue & white transfers designed by us using historical patterns from 19th C. tableware as a reference.
Our own ceramic transfers allow us the freedom to create our own subjects.
Artwork is signed and dated at the back.
A diagram showing the placing of each plate on the wall is included in the box.

- Condition:Additions or alterations made to the original: This artwork consists of slipcast ceramic plates on which ceramic transfer reproductions of an oil painting on canvas. Due to the handmade process, each plate might present small imperfections. Wear consistent with age and use. The plates are strictly decorative and should not be used to serve food or cleaned in the dishwasher. If necessary, only use a soft damp cloth to clean the surface, avoiding rubbing or scratching the plate.

Studio DeSimoneWayland
Marcello De Simone and Bruce Wayland are the Amsterdam based Italian/American design duo behind Studio DeSimoneWayland. Since 2010 they have been combining their backgrounds in both studio art and art history to create one of a kind wall art. Their medium of choice is ceramic plates, at first combined with paintings in their Altered Perspectives series, and later created in stoneware and porcelain by the artists in their atelier in Amsterdam. The combination of plates with paintings, as well as handmade ceramics and porcelain has developed into a slight obsession with the forms and shapes of antique table services. This has led to the forms themselves becoming the focus of their latest work which is in unglazed extra white porcelain and coloured stoneware. Their work has been shown in various locations in Europe, and most recently at the Chairish Art Gallery at Bergdorf’ Goodman in New York from January 16 to April 10, 2023. In 2022 Studio DeSimoneWayland were included in the prestigious Homo Faber Guide of the best European artist-makers.
