Curtis Jere Brass Branch signed by the Artist

About the Item

This Floating Tree Branch sculpture by Curtis Jere for Artisan House is a brass piece belonging to their Wall Art series. In art history, representations of branches, leaves, and trees often have a poetic and spiritual dimension. It is signed and dated 1977. This sculpture in particular, besides being creative and subtly represented, offers a real aesthetic addition. Its integration of two attachment points allows for a fixation on the wall and creates a sense of depth through the space created between the branch and the wall. As the sunlight interacts with its surface and form, the sculpture comes to life, casting shadows across the supporting wall. Curtis Freiler and Jerry Fels, brothers-in-law bonded by their creative spirits, adopted the shared pseudonym Curtis Jeré to embark on an artistic journey that would leave an indelible mark on the world of decorative wall sculptures. Their artistic vision, born in 1963, sought to bring forth "gallery-quality art for the masses." Utilizing a remarkable array of materials, including enamel, brass, copper, and steel, Fels, and Freiler crafted pieces that merged abstract designs with meticulous craftsmanship. Traditional techniques such as enameling, resin pouring, and bronze casting were employed, resulting in metal works that exhibited a harmonious blend of clustered, modular shapes. Curtis Jeré's dedication to their craft extended beyond the artistic realm—they established the renowned company Artisan House to manufacture and distribute their mesmerizing sculptures worldwide.
