About the Item

This brand new Mike Hynson hand shaped Rainbow big wave gun surfboard, incorporates an original 1960s rainbow logo and is enhanced with artwork by Eilers who offers up a rainbow spectrum of vibrant color and graphics on a tremendous shape that might entice even a land-lover into the waves or to display it on a wall. Shades of blue, green, yellow, orange and red, span the rails and graphics. The fin offers a burst of brilliant orange surrounded by rippling blues in painted layers embracing the Ohm and Yin Yang symbols. Easy to hang, this board measures 110 inches long x 18.5 inches wide, thickness at the rails is 2 inches. The fixed fin adds a depth of 10 inches. Mike Hynson is producing very few boards nowadays so this is a great opportunity to acquire a new Hynson surfboard shaped by the man himself. Hynson shaped this board under his seminal Rainbow Surfboards label. using an original 1960s Rainbow logo to grace it. The board features a softer 50/50 rail, a Classic pintail and a Rainbow fin. Hynson is a designer / shaper and inventor of the "hard down rail", he is easily classed as one of the best surfers in the world and oh, by the way he co-stared in Bruce Brown's crossover hit surf movie Endless Summer. During the early 1970s Hynson was into his transcendental, psychedelic "Rainbow Bridge" period, when all his boards had weird wonderful trippy airbrush work done out of a factory in Laguna Canyon operated and owned by Johnny Gale. This board, painted by Jeff Eilers offers a nod to the Rainbow Bridge era with artful additions expressing his own creative flair. In addition to the previously mentioned Ohm and Yin Yang symbol Eilers includes birds, dolphins, a figure sitting in meditation, interconnected spheres, and a symbol loosely translated as "all things happen for a reason".
