About the Item

The painting "Werdenberg in the Evening" is an oil on canvas artwork measuring 60x70 cm and takes the viewer to a magical moment of a quiet evening in the Swiss town of Werdenberg. In the center of the composition, the castle rises majestically, its strong walls against the evening sky create a sense of antiquity and immutability, like a sentry observer who sees the change of seasons and years. In the foreground, the roofs of houses are depicted, which, as if merging with the surrounding nature, give the painting a warm, cozy look, creating a contrast with the cold shades of the mountains. The painting is filled with bright autumn colors. The red, orange and gold shades of the trees give the painting a special charm and emphasize the seasonal transition, when nature is preparing for winter calm. In the background of the painting, the blue Kreuzberge stretches out, their contours softly merging with the evening sky, creating a sense of fairy tale and mystery. The mountains at sunset become part of this enchanting scene. The main focus is the red sunset, which paints the sky in fiery shades. It is reflected on the surface of the earth, creating a contrast with the cold tones of the mountains. The sunset adds dynamism and a special atmosphere to the picture, enhancing the feeling of evening magic. The painting conveys the atmosphere of a calm but majestic evening, where ancient architecture harmoniously merges with nature, and the world is immersed in the warmth and soft light of an autumn sunset. The painting is completely ready to hang on the wall and is equipped with hooks. The sides are painted dark, assistance in framing the painting is possible. This artwork will perfectly fit into any interior, both classic and modern. "At Sunrise in the Mountains" Oil Painting
By Ulrich Gleiter
Located in Denver, CO
Ulrich Gleiter's (EUR based) "At Sunrise in the Mountains" is an oil painting that depicts the textural hillside of a mountain landscape with blue skies overhead. Bio/Artist Statement: German-born artist Ulrich Gleiter (b. 1977) is noted for his landscapes. His style is sometimes reminiscent of German expressionism and the Russian impressionists. He first studied at the Dresden Academy of Arts and later at the Repin Academy in Saint Petersburg, Russia. His work has been recognized with awards in the USA and in Russia and been featured in books and magazines. "Ulrich Gleiter is a citizen of the world. Born in Saarbrücken, Germany, he pursued his undergraduate studies at Dresden’s Academy of Fine Arts, where he learned to paint with the bold, colorful strokes handed down from the early 20th-century German expressionists. Students there prioritized their individuality — no one but you could have made this picture, they were told. Gleiter then absorbed a different view of artistry during his exchange year at Moscow’s Surikov Institute, followed by six more years at the Repin Institute in St. Petersburg. Today Gleiter divides time between Germany, Russia, and the United States, where he has become much admired among plein-airists in such scenic places as Colorado, California, and Wyoming. In our era of diplomatic tensions, when Crimea and Russia appear regularly in the headlines, Gleiter feels a renewed appreciation for nature’s timelessness — for its inspiring capacity to rise above the ins-and-outs of man-made problems. Today, he says, “I often think about the history of an area where I am painting, about how many troubles and beautiful things may have happened there. Most importantly, I am humbled to observe how natural forces never stop moving.” Gleiter turns his searching eye not only to wilderness, but also to the banalities of urban life — to parked cars, the glinting sprawl of an automobile dealer’s lot, retail stores, and even cargo ships. There, too — as in his portraits, nudes, and still lifes — he manages to find abstracted beauty and emotional significance in the interactions of light, color, and air."
