Jadeite Jade Crane Bird Shòu Mid-Century Carved Bangle Bracelet

About the Item

This mid-century natural jadeite jade bangle has a translucent deep green and light green color. The bangle is beautifully carved with the traditional Chinese lucky shòu symbol - Shòu is usually represented with a circle of the "Wu Fu," or five bats. These bats represent the five blessings of longevity: long life, good health, comfortable wealth, virtue and peaceful death. A crane bird and foliage are also carved into this jade. In Chinese culture, the crane is venerated as the prince of all feathered creatures and thus has a legendary status. Embodying longevity and peace, it is the second most favored bird symbol after the phoenix. The bangle measures - outer diameter is 78-79 mm, width 16.5 mm, thickness 8.5 mm. The bangle has a nice heavy weight of 93.54 grams. Jadeite - the treasure from the east - forms the most rare and valuable jade in the world, a bright green substance known as “Imperial Jade”. Its colouration is so vibrant because it contains traces of chromium, the same chemical which creates the beautiful green of the emerald. This type of jadeite is slightly translucent, making it a brighter stone whose value is evident when seen. The bangle is in very good condition, its analyzed properties confirm the authenticity of this natural jadeite jade. However, there are indications of impregnation, known as B+C-Jade. The bangle can be provided with the gemstone report from the Netherlands Gemmological Laboratory (NGL). The jewel will be beautifully gift-wrapped in a black and gold jewelry box.
