Bent & Anni Knudsen Cabochon Amethyst and Yellow Gold Bangle Circa 1965

About the Item

A bullet cabochon amethyst and 14-karat yellow gold bangle by Bent Knudsen and Anni Knudsen's workshop, circa 1965. Stamped Denmark, Bent, K, 585. This very stylish mid-20th-century Scandinavian modernist bangle comes from one of the few jewelers of the period who reveled in the use of gems in his designs. Knudsen designed exquisite, spare modernist pieces often set with semiprecious cabochon stones. Bent Knudsen (1924 - 1996) was a renowned Danish modernist silversmith who, having worked at the leading firm of Hans Hansen, started an independent workshop in 1956 with his wife, Anni. Their collaboration in jewelry, at a high point for Danish design, achieved global recognition, and they created works for a wide range of clients, ranging from Danish royalty to the American market.
