18th Century Georgian 3 TCW Diamond 18K Gold Star Brooch, S.J. Phillips, London

About the Item

Enchanting 18th Century Georgian period diamond brooch in the shape of a star, retailed by S.J. Phillips with the firm's early heart shaped tooled leather box. Diamonds: approximately 3 TCW- Old Mine, Rose Cut and Point Cut Tested for 18K gold Length: 31mm ( 1.32 inches) Width: 25mm ( 1 inch) Weight: 7.3 grams Condition: Very Good Box: S.J. Phillips, 113 New Bond Street, Silversmith, Goldsmith & Diamond Merchant, leather exterior, silk and velvet interior. This striking 18th century jewel was retailed by London's legendary S.J. Phillips whose clients include members of the Royal British family and some of the world's most prominent jewellery collectors- William Randolph Hearst, J.P. Morgan and the Rothchild family. Among the specialities of the firm are Georgian era diamonds, distinctive 18th and 19th century jewels and, more recently, early 20th century pieces by leading houses such as Cartier, Mauboussin, Boucheron, Chaumet and Bulgari. The central diamond of this brooch is Rose Cut, surrounded by four larger diamonds which are of the earliest known type of cut known as the Point Cut. The essence of this cut was to polish the faces of the natural octahedral shape of each gem, thus improving upon nature. This was the only known form of polishing diamonds up to the 14th Century. Timeless and Romantic, meant to capture your heart.
