Antique French Victorian 18K Yellow Gold & Silver Pearl and Diamond Swan Brooch
About the Item
A Victorian pearl, diamond, ruby, silver and yellow gold brooch, comprising one round cut ruby, five rose cut diamonds, and sixty-seven seed pearls, in silver and 18 karat yellow gold.
My favourite thing about this Antique Silver and Yellow Gold Pearl and Diamond Brooch is the whimsical design. What’s yours? Perhaps the shimmering pearls? Or the glittering diamonds?
This darling brooch is designed as an elegant swan. The brooch is set with shimmering seed pearls, of varying sizes, adorning most of the brooch and giving a white field of colour. The pearls are pale, lustrous, and well-matched with one another. The foremost wing is further adorned with glittering rose cut diamonds, and the eye is a ruby. The brooch is perfectly formed, even down to the detail of the little webbed foot in gold. The brooch is in shining silver, accenting the pale pearls perfectly, and is complete with mount, C-shaped catch and pin in yellow gold. As swans mate for life, it is possible that this brooch was given as a wedding gift, symbolising the commitment of the couple. The brooch is in excellent condition, and is a quality, well-made piece. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
The brooch measures 23.5mm long, 21mm wide, and 5mm deep (excluding pin and fittings).
