A stunning, fine and impressive antique 0.22 carat diamond and 0.02 carat ruby, 21 karat yellow gold and silver set brooch; part of our diverse antique jewelry and estate jewelry collections This stunning, fine and impressive antique Victorian diamond brooch has been crafted in 21k yellow gold with a silver setting. The brooch has been realistically modelled in the form of a 21k yellow gold hunting horn, ornamented with a central silver setting, fashioned in the form of a perched bird amongst foliate. The bird is embellished with a silver setting featuring twenty-seven pavé set Dutch cut diamonds. The eye of the bird is represented with a cabochon cut, pavé set ruby. This 21k yellow gold brooch secures to the reverse with a hinged pin and clasp. Here we have a very well made, antique, pin/brooch that was crafted in France from solid 18k gold and silver during the Victorian era. The brooch features a large beetle design that shows incredible detail and is neatly set with fine stones throughout. The beetles' wings are constructed from polished, custom cut, garnets that are well matched showing a deep, dark, red color bringing a truly rich look to this piece. The body of the beetle is then adorned with old rose cut diamonds in which brilliantly sparkle for a glamorous touch, while the eyes stand out with the vivid red color of the cabochon cut rubies. The remaining areas display high quality workmanship with its truly outstanding and realistic detail, including at the underside of the beetle in which is perfectly set on the gold stick that is elegantly adorned with a lovely cultured pearl at its top.
